I am such a flake when it comes to these things. But what is new? Saw a
dolphin today. Got in the icy waters and played with it for a bit. We both
had a marvelous time and I think tomorrow I shall share a swim with it
again. The hooting continues at night. I actually find myself enjoying it!
Will send Uncle Pob a belated birthday card tomorrow. Not sure how to send
it, though - being in the wilderness and all. I will have to ask Mr. Owl
after my play date with the dolphin. Ta! Day 45: Mr. Owl was no help at all! Stupid bird! My play date went off without a hitch. My sessions with the dolphin leave me feeling revitalized and perky. On to other matters. I need to stop touching myself. It’s inappropriate and childish. It brings shame upon me and my family and it is a physical exertion that proves utterly futile in the end. My seed is spilled with such wanton disregard! And for what? Ridiculous! Day 46: Dammit, Dergan, stop touching yourself! Stop it! Stop it! Anyway, I set three new traps today. Hope they will snatch me a beaver or something. Seems all I can ever get around here are gnomes (that is, when the traps aren’t utterly destroyed by whatever nuisance stalks these woods). And THEIR pelts are WORTHLESS! Uncle would be most displeased with my progress! Fishing is good as ever. The summer wanes and autumn approaches. I must prepare for the encroaching fall and winter thereafter.Day 47: The hooting, which I have grown accustom to, has suddenly stopped! And what’s more, I actually caught five badgers, a fox, two gnomes, and a dandy named Phillip with my traps! The dandy I set free, the gnomes I ate, the fox I skinned, and the badgers I am keeping as pets. Day 48: Keeping the badgers as pets, it turns out, was a bad idea. Go figure! The bleeding has subsided, but I fear the scars are permanent. Oh well. They escaped after they ravaged my body. Feisty critters! In other news: I’ve got to quit touching myself! Dammit, Dergan! I’m incorrigible! The gnomes were good eating, but my stomach is unsettled. Tomorrow I will set more traps.Day 49: I set a total of eight traps today. It was tedious work, but it kept my hands busy (which is a good thing!). I did not touch myself today. The warbling of the songbirds is delightful this time of year. All the woods seem astir with nature. This land is bounteous and I find myself growing accustom to it’s rugged appeal. I still feel as if I’m being watched, but the hooting that kept me up at night is gone for good it seems! Had a frugal supper of nuts and berries and some left-over gnome. As I write this the sun is setting. I think maybe I will take a stroll down to the lake and see what my dolphin friend is up to! It’s been a good day.
