At the last moment Stacy had a failure of nerve, and just asked for a cup of coffee. As she sat sipping it, she inwardly fumed at herself for her cowardice. Then Fogelbert spoke to her:

  1. "Excuse me for asking, seeing as we're strangers, but you seem very troubled about something. Would it help to tell me about it?"
  2. "Stacy, why the silence? Have I offended you in some way?"
  3. "Didn't I see you on TV the other evening?"
