At least, Astra liked to think that it was the force of her will that had halted her unfortunate transformation, but it might just have been that the little man had warned her before she had drunk very much of the potion. She was left with a donkey's tail and ears, and her back and most of her body below the waist were covered in hair.
But worst of all, when she tried to say "I think it's stopped", she found that the only sound that she could emit was a bray. "I think that your change has stopped," the man said. "That was lucky for you. You're probably wondering who I am." Astra nodded. "My names is Carl. I'm in charge of the maintenance of this section of the caves. I work for the dragon of course, Now before you decide either to flee or to attack me, let me point out something. The dragon is the only being in these caves with enough magical knowledge to undo your enchantment. So your best bet is to let me take you to him." If the dragon is willing to restore me to normal, then he's going to want something from me in return, Astra thought. At the very least, he'll chain me up again. Is it worth it? And what if he won't change me back? Then I'll have put myself back in his clutches without having gained anything in return. Having made up her mind:
