Then she seems to pull herself together. "Well, there's nothing that I can do about it. It seems that you may have my assistance for longer than I had been hoping. Is this cloak really magic, I wonder? I've certainly never seen one made of feathers before." She starts examining it closely.

While you were telling Astra your story, Aaron and the shopkeeper had tied up the three unconscious men. Now one of them groans, apparently starting to come round.

"Perhaps we can get some useful information out of these men before we kill them," Aaron says.

You are shocked for a moment, but then you remind yourself that they had torched the inn as a diversion, causing at least one death and probably more. "When they don't turn up with the supplies, won't their camp send more men to investigate?" you ask.

"Possibly, but with the villagers now on the alert, hopefully there won't be enough of them to cause any more trouble. If they had thought that they were strong enough to take what they needed openly, they would have done that originally."

1. Aaron continues: "I think that this man is now conscious enough to be questioned."
2. Then everyone is distracted by a whirr of wings. Astra has refastened the clasp of her cloak, and a mockingbird is once more flying about the room.
