The Forge is Against Them!

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 7212

And meanwhile, back at the place where the trouble started to brew and spilled over to effect Astra's kidnappers....

"The Forge is against them...." Diane Walker puns lamely in Alliance English as soon as the last dwarf describes what had transpired.

She had also been reviewing the recording of the event (taken for posterity), and everything that the worshipful dwarves had said had transpired exactly as told.

She would have those examined for any signs of alteration or distortion....but Walker had a cold feeling in the pit of her stomach that the dwarves were telling the bold faced, naked truth.

What the dwarves said next seemed to throw some support to Walker's conviction.

"Please...Holy One......tell us more of what you.....the Messanger wish of us," Tarin Gazin said softly (for a dwarf). "Tell us...if you would.....what can we do to correct the mistakes our arrogance made?"

"Beyond what the.....Forge said through me....I leave it upon you to figure out the best course of action," Walker hedged....wanting nothing of this. "You have seen the results of foolishness.....so I advice you to consider your next course of action....for it shall definitely effect the future of your race."

Hope that sounded profound enough....but vague enough to get me off the hook here, Walker thinks to herself as she leaves to consult with her superiors.

Things had definitely gone further than what had been planned....or desired!

Almost as an afterthought, Walker had her dwarven charges secure the samples of weaponry that Balok had brought in his attempt to impress and persuade the other dwarves to his camp.

She had heard the rumors float about Orcs armed with bootlegged pistols.....supplied from unknown sources.

Walker knew very well now who was responsible - a faction of bigoted dwarves - but she wanted to present as strong of argument as possible for her commander....before showing the recordings of this....miracle?.....that she had been apart of.

Quiet frankly, Walker was quietly wondering if she was loosing her mind....for she was beginning to....believe.

Perhaps, if this persists, I'll just quietly join the Church of the Forge, Walker dazedly thinks to herself.

When one is touched by something as strange as what Walker was touched by....one might re-evaluate one's beliefs in the Higher Powers.....

On top of everything else, the fact that she looked like an idealized version of herself at age eighteen...and had been left glowing with a soft.....gentle light seemed to argue that something...unusual had occurred.

Tarin Gazin stared around at the gathered dwarves....the leaders of the various Clans....and wonder if they've lost their minds!

"We bow to the One who set Us on the Path of Righteousness," says Ghasit, eldest dwarf of now what is the Oldest of the Dwarven People (Balok's Clan had been the oldest....but that was before their .....change).

Tarin opens his mouth to protest, flabbergasted that he who is the youngest dwarf at this meeting should be approached....with great vigor.....to be the Emperor of the all the dwarves....to form anew a nation that had been torn apart and remained in pieces for well over 10,000 years ago (a LONG time....even for a dwarf).

That....and Tarin felt that the Forge had meant by this showing that....something NEW and BETTER was needed.

He had sent the most troublesome members of his Clan Camp Underhill in the hopes that a stint of the Military would.....knock some of their arrogance out of them. When they returned (those that survived - he had no illusions of the intellect of some of those dwarves - he hoped to be able to perhaps gain a better view into the inner workings of this mysterious orgainization. He respected the Golems immensely, and owed his life to the actions of Probe in particular....but Tarin wanted to get another view....just for his own edification.

The six survivors he had gotten back.....they weren't the same.

Still great warriors, but Tarin felt much wiser for their exposure.

Tarin refused the crown, and instead laid out what he felt was the correct.....the NEEDED path for the dwarven race to salvage itself from the injuries it had done itself.....to save itself from destroying itself.....leaving the Forge left with no option to Blight them all as they had Balok (and his Clan?)......

Tarin found, after he explained his reasoning....and some religious interpretations of the Forge's Manual (the Dwarven Bible...basically)......

Cries of amazement, and then grim acceptance.....

  1. As one....each and every dwarf present drew their daggers......
