Mother Disapproves

"Darn right, you shouldn't!" her mother's voice returned, peevishly. "You know how I feel about this UFO foolishness! I've told you time and again that getting mixed up in this business is just asking for trouble, and I think it very presumptuous of you to go asking me to help you pay for it!"

Stacy struggled to frame a response to this.

1. She decided to try and keep her mother talking, hoping to lead her into telling Stacy more about "this UFO business."
2. Eventually, she simply sighed and said "I'm sorry, Mom, you're right. Do you at least have a number for him in Alabama?"
3. Suddenly, she found herself breaking down and spilling the whole memory-loss story to her mother.
