Swampland of Desire

Ned's life never was the same after a multi-school field trip to Brookfield Zoo in suburban Chicago in the spring of 1991. He and Scott did not attend the same school, but there was some kind of misunderstanding between the two boys in the zoo's large restaurant, and Scott flipped out. The former Scott Alan Childers jumped on Ned as he was walking away and brought him to the cold floor with several hard punches, and was in the process of pummeling a screaming and crying Ned when several adults pulled him off. While Ned sobbed on the floor, he clearly heard the adults refer to Scott by his full name, which Ned never forgot.

Scott's attack screwed Ned up pretty badly. He ended up having to leave high school twice due to emotional problems, putting him two years behind the rest of the kids his age. It was also pretty embarrassing for a twenty-year-old Ned to be graduating with the class of '97. Since then, Ned's been an eleven year college student, usually dropping out whenever the stress and amount of school work overwhelmed him. Deeply in debt thanks to numerous student loans, Ned fled to Scotland to see if a change of scenery would finally motivate him to get that degree, and hopefully put that fight with Scott at the zoo behind him for good.

As Scott (still bleeding from his his gunshot wounds) and Raymond caught up, Ned quietly suffered an emotional crisis. No, he thought, not Scott. Not that jerk. Why here? More importantly, why now?

Something had to be done...

1. Ned calmly introduces himself to Scott.
2. Ned has the mother of all breakdowns behind the counter.
3. Ned attacks Scott with a baseball bat.
4. Ned decides to relieve himself in Scott's coffee. That'll show him!
5. Same as #5, but things get mixed up and Ned's boss drinks the tainted coffee. Oh no!
