Nendi wondered how the palace from which quite a major country was governed could be so bureaucratic and employ staff with such a "jobsworth" attitude, without that country rapidly collapsing into chaos. "What's the point of employing a Locator if she herself can't be located?" she said, keeping her temper with some difficulty.

"All right then, this is what I'm going to do...

1. "Take off my bikini and walk around stark naked until someone decides that it might be a good idea to help me."
2. "Take the mace from that ornamental suit of armour over there and bash you on the head with it. It may not help, but it will make me feel a lot better."
3. "Go and find someone more helpful. Surely all the palace servants can't be like you."
4. "See if I can find out what your job actually is. You must surely have some purpose. It probably won't help me, but my curiosity is piqued."
