Having grown up in the castle, Astra knew passages and tunnels that the
townie guards had no idea of (and in fact, weren't allowed to know in case
of spies). Deep in the bowels, Astra listened at a grating. Robert must
have found the fire-map to the new escape tunnel the Wizard of Kamiro had
built and used the Royal Words to open it up.
But Astra had (so far) memorized the royal words to allow EXITING and had
thus destroyed -that- paper. She could clearly hear Robert, Fred and the
hotties wondering what to do (or in the case of the ladies, how fast to
shimmy their rears while dancing to imaginary music).

Astra summons the Royal Bodyguard (one of the few who knew of this tunnel).

Astra speaks the words to allow them to exit, then sics the guard on them once they get into town.

Same as above, but they escape the guard.

Astra leaves them to die.

Fred is smart enough to say the tunnel entrance spell backwards. Back to chasing the idiots around the castle.

Astra hollers spooky noises into the grating. Robert screams, Fred falls over and the hotties screech and lose clothing (it hits the inside of the grating).

They use the Royal Words and escape on their own. But how? Only ten people knew them and they were all women (or in the case of Steve the Blind Barber, dead).
