Limbo

Totally enfuriated the shapechangers, who all hated punsters with a vengeance and a half, tried stomping on Fred to shut him up (or otherwise shut him down), but he was too flat for them to cause any significant damage. Or insignificant damage, for that matter. Of course him being dead did not help in the matter at all.

Sixty Story Cops burst into the room and tried to pick Fred up off the floor but with no success. "Fred, you nincompoop!" they roared. "It's not that kind of Limbo!"

5. Realizing shadows need light to exist, one of the Story Cops turns off the lights. That works,only now they are alone in the dark with several irate shapeshifters.
6. The shapeshifters turn into Story Cops. They should have seen that coming.
7. Will you, won't you, will you, won't you, will you, won't you join the dance?
