Insights and small gaffs…

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 70817

"If she can turn a human into a wood elf, then could she perhaps turn human children into dragonets?" Gilda wonders, unusually perceptively.

Gone is anything from the giantess' mind in the way of formal (tried and true) dragonslayer training and lore, jumbled magically beyond all recognition into the few fireside tales her (fictitious) clan told her and Hilda while growing up. However, it seemed to make a certain amount of sense in an otherwise senseless situation. It was the ONLY motivation that she could think of for the dragoness’ interest. Maybe it was some lingering traces of old memories and knowledge that gave birth to that intuitive leap. But the leap was made and apparently it was a leap of logic that also seemed to explain to the others the actions of the dragoness. Explaining why the dragoness had such interests in Nightfall’s cubs. . . er. . . children.

“That . . .would explain much,” Hilda said softly. Honestly, while not exactly thrilled with tangling with that dragon female again (she considered them all EXTREMELY lucky to having gotten out of their relatively unscathed as they all had, even Nightfall) she WAS going to stand by Nightfall and help in her time of need. It was, however, nice to even have a possible clue at the dragon’s motivations and even where (and what AS) the dragoness had stashed Nightfall’s infants as a welcome thing indeed.

It could served as a basis to begin to plan and scheme how to get them back IF her dear sister’s observations were true. There were ways to confirm or not safely, but . . . After Nightfall’s rather heated comments about gods and such… (re: 69858).

“That reptilian b*tch would do such a thing,” Nightfall snarls, Gilda could almost imagine imaginary hackles on the back of the elfin woman’s neck raising like a wild angry wolf right now. “Raise MY children as the very THING that I had sworn to kill to avenge my dead . . .er . . .”

She blinks in befuddlement, remembering that the one dear sister’s she had gone forth to avenge had actually turned out to be false. turned out that her sister had somehow by parties unknown been transformed into one of the two female giants here.

In the heat of her passion she had temporarily mislaid that fact in her heart. Gods, was it nice to have loving kin again (multiplied by two with BOTH of them being her sister, according to her unyielding elfin heart on the matter).

Hilda and Gilda smile understandingly, forgoing any need for apologies for that small gaff. It was taking them time still to (mentally) adjust to the idea of having Nightfall as a sister. Their heart had her already as such but . . .

“But before we do anything may I suggest we get out of the immediate area before we make plans and plots,” Hilda suggests. “We are still entirely too close to that mage’s home we’d been hired to ‘investigate’ for my tastes.”

Very strong agreements (even from Braveheart) are met with that observation…

  1. Quickly gathering up their gear and loot (payment from the dragoness for service rendered) they quickly march off and then when far enough away settle down for the night to discuss possible courses of action.
