This was very different from any sort of training that Astra had
anticipated. She guessed that she was supposed to get the chest of gold.
But to do that would mean defeating the giant minotaur, and she did not
even have a weapon. Maybe she could distract it with the leg of lamb for
long enough to grab the gold? If she could jump to another platform
before it attacked her then she would probably be safe, since the
creature looked too heavy and clumsy to be a good jumper. But then she
realised that, carrying the heavy chest, she would be unable to jump to
another platform to escape from it.
Astra therefore decided that if she was to defeat the minotaur she would have to acquire a weapon of some kind. Though she could see nothing on the south platform, she would go there first. Maybe there would be something hidden there. She took the leg of lamb in one hand, just in case she found a use for it. Then she retreated as far as was possible, to get the maximum run-up, before sprinting forward and leaping when she reached the edge.
