Meanwhile… “Oooh, what hit me?” Dr. Ritsuko Akagi groans, slowly pushing herself off the floor. “What happened?” “Er . . .well, I believe that we had something of a Chaos energy event that just visited us at a guess,” the one young woman who called herself Lilith said slowly, helping the other to her feet. “I guess it was overdue for us and . . . Wait a minute!” Lilith blinks, looking up at the older woman. Given the entirety of the Dursely family had been transformed into chattering monkeys (complimentary funny outfits and crank driven organ included) you better believe that that Akagi’s really worried about what Lilith just noticed. The monkeys in question fail to add anything to this conversation, having been just knocked unconscious by some well placed plasma blasts (set for stun) to their bodies by ONE of this group. Who exactly Ritsuko couldn’t recall at the moment. They’d been a handful even tied firmly up, but graduated to a whole new level upon their transformation. She’s still feeling a bit dizzy from whatever had just hit from behind. “What?” Ritsuko blinks, furry ears twitching and cat tail thrashing. Green slit eyes look out back at Lilith with great concern. Turning away, she blinks as she sees . . .nothing amiss in the vanity mirror where they’d finally tracked down and bagged the monkeyized family in the master bedroom. Turning back, the now dehumanized just shakes her head with a questioning look in her eyes. “Let usss jussst say that while you are fond of catsss I rather doubt you wish to BE one,” the G-man explains. “Live anime catgirlsss are somewhat passé nowadays, I fear.” “I should say so!” blurts out Akagi, interrupting. Despite the cat motif in her office and even her cellphone’s ringtonee, the G-man is very much correct. “It was a temporary transformation,” Reika explains, using her tricorder to examine the agape former head of Project E. “That or a magical illusion. Gone now, whatever the case. Readings show that you’re back to fully human, but . . .” “My eyebrows?” Akagi blinked. ‘Congratulations, you’re now a natural blonde Japanese woman of unmixed lineage,’ Tabris thinks drolly to himself, glancing over Reika‘s shoulder at her tricorder findings. ‘Well, at least it’ll save a ton on hair dye . . .’ Uh, Ritsuko Akagi had always felt overshadowed by her famous (at least in scientific circles) mother to the point of feeling a need to dye the hair on her head blonde (if not her eyebrows) in order to differentiate her from her mother. Things have changed a lot and she’d been playing with the idea of letting her hair go back to it’s normal coloration she’d been born with. Does not look like this is going to happen now, now does it. Later, after a bit... Lilith Dr. Akagi got off easy this time around but how long before Tabris’ Chaos Energy transforms her into something totally different? Looking over at the unconscious forms of the formerly human Dursleys I must conclude that yet again that things . . . Could get very strange. . . . I suppress a small derisive snort at that tlast thought. Good grief, that is SO very lame! Granted, I am hardly in a position to comment about “strange”, being who and what I am now and had been only a very short time ago. First Child, what a head trip THAT had been! Little to nothing of it good besides the part of Shinji (now Nadia) having come into my life… Now a woman and married to a fellow former NGE Angel who likes to still be called Tabris (aka the Angel of Free Will). . . . Nice enough fellow I find but . . .You got to admit that it’ll take a LOT of getting used to here! Right now I’m just hoping that our wayward leader (and sister) shows up here soon. She had been able to contact us via communicator, telling of the strangest things that I still do not know what exactly to make of here. The thought that such a world like this “Harry Potter” story could possibly exist alongside a world similar to what I and sister Reika experience just boggles the mind! I mean how in the world could something like this-this child’s story be able to HIDE from the rest of the world at large?! But whatever the case, we’ve agreed to lay low as before when we rushed off the street into this house of . . . .trolls. Cannot believe what Tabris actually found underneath the stairway! These “Dursleys” actually forced this Potter boy to sleep underneath the stairs? Well, I do dare say that I cannot feel too sorry for them right now. Their bodies do indeed match their small little brains, I dare say and maybe (though I doubt it) they’ll be more civil when their transformation wears off. Maybe the fear they felt will have a salutary effect. If not the fear that drove them into a frenzy whilst monkeys then perhaps the shock of finding themselves locked up in that blasted cupboard beneath the stairs. But even if that doesn’t put them straight (and we don’t have much time or resources to PUT these monkeys straight), then locking them in the cupboard beneath the stairs will keep them OUT of our way! At least until it wears off and the bruises they’ll get from THAT should be . . .entertaining, suddenly returning to human size and all. . . . IF . . .it change back. Not like we have learned much in the way of magic that could fix them, right? I mean, while I and Reika have the same ability to recall information (photographic memory). Good and well, but . . . Gads, when they tweaked genes they went all out . . .made us just as good as they could, but not to last. Sigh, anyway… While good enough for high school, learning to be a good enough wizard for THAT is different. While such an ability I and my sisters made high school a breeze, being able to retain everything in the textbook in one night and thus be able to get away with just staring out the window while the our instructor (old men who must have had memory problems, since he gave the same 2nd Impact lecture OVER and OVER again), it wouldn’t do for this. Aced every class and take great pride in that, in retrospect. That was high school. This would take . . . Post graduate courses. Several years worth and we’ve only gotten a few DAYS . . . Rei’s up to that level, but not us. Yes, you get the idea. Big sister (Rei) might be able to undo this (maybe if I understand if this isn’t the Matrix kind of transformation), but WE cannot. Must ask Rei to see to fixing them before we head on out of here. . . Hey, I hope she’ll BE here so we can ask before we must head on out of here. So with that cheerful thought I and the others gather up the sleeping simians and stuff them into the cupboard underneath the stairs after a quick check of our other unwelcome guests (odd bunch, popping out of the thin air and all). Still out of it and tied up, the monkeys are secured undreath the stairs and we go back to doing what we’d done before this all started, talking shop. Reika “So, was your Unit 00 like ours?” Dr. Akagi. “Was it a ‘proof of concept’ monstrosity pressed into use because the fools in the UN wouldn’t give over more money to Project E?” After a lot of technical jargon that I fear goes well over my head and Tabris‘ heads--what with us just having a Pilot’s technical expertise on EVA units while Lilith and Akagi know practically EVERYTHING about them, including why they’re no longer possible to build in this reality’s physics--it boiled down to this. “That and even AFTER the long overdue upgrades to it all it’s armor got melted off my Unit was still the weakest of the lot?” Lilith quipped, chuckling humorlessly looked back. “Sounds about right.” “Only thing different between my old Unit and my sister’s Unit 00 was that her Unit kept a bit of it’s old orange color scheme,” I sigh, a trace sad. “So of course both of us met with similar fates at the final Angel before the . . .uhm . . .the last one.” “Hm, makes me appreciate much more the Unit I had been called to pilot after the Second Childs breakdown,” Tabris says softly to himself. “Bloody.” Our unwelcome magical guests (the ones who popped in) meanwhile just stare at us, as if they had not clue ONE as to what we are talking about. What? Are these magical folks so far removed that even the Angel wars are unknown to them?! Surely not! I don’t get to ask them about it, however because “my” Dr. Ritsuko Akagi is speaking.
