The guard was Matthew Malboncton, one of the Princess' personal bodyguards. Her safety was his top priority.
As one of the most skilled men in the land, Exotica's dabbling in magic did not pass un-noticed. Of course, Malboncton had not said anything, for revealing the Princess learning White Magic would cause others to stop her and thus prevent his mission, ensuring her safety.
So when the Princess ran out in a panic, the guard realized her magical danger sense was going off. He reached for the alarm bell...
