What Demifox Synizn knows of the situation (part 4)

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 6957

"....anti-mater is MUCH more powerful than a nuclear bomb in the sense that just one ounce of the vile stuff coming into contact with one ounce of regular matter can destroy a world the size of Terra!" Demifox Synizn shudders, as well as his friends.

Tiamat knows that we've had enough of that super powerful explosives! the demifox sighs, remembering the wastelands that had been caused by the Enemy nuclear bombardment of this Terra, before he and his friends had healed Terra with the combined might of the Crystallics.

"It looked like something called a football, and Scott had a flash of brilliance....of insight....and slammed the bomb into the floor - spiking it as Probe explained it to me - and screamed touchdown. It had the desired effect that it stopped the countdown, and saving the ship from immediate destruction. But, as per Chen's legacy, the danger wasn't over yet! The bomb transformed into a small egg, and hatched forth a small species of dragon that I'm not familiar with. Whatever the case, the little dragoness was NOT the Seven of Nine that had attacked Scott. It was just a new hatchling, new to the world outside the eggshell.

"Sigin was able to briefly examine the little one for a bit, and confirmed that it was like no dragon he was familiar with. But it was able to survive in the magicless realm of the Voyager's universe....so Tiamat knows what will come from all of that when she grows up! For the time being, she seems happy enough to be something of a....pet.....to Chen and a small family aboard the Voyager....more on that latter."

The last part of that statement causes Demifox Synizn to frown a little, for the demifox wasn't happy about ANY kind of dragon being a pet. However, it was the little dragoness' choice, and Borgee as the little female dragon called herself now wouldn't be persuaded to be anything else....now.

After examination, the Voyager was horrified to find that the virus that had infected the Borg now had a mad plan for the crew of the Voyager. The new Collective, the Scott Collective, was going to capture each and every crewmember. Then, each crewmember was to be transformed into various mystical creatures (like dragon, centuar, elves, et al), and somehow injected into various magical realms so that those lands could be assimilated by this Collective.

A means of trying to destroy this new Collective was formulated and unleashed, only to prove to be ineffective.... The mage pauses, remembering the choatic computer log/recording that Probe had shown him......

"Captain, Scott....." the Doctor says over the com. "I think you'd better come down here! Borgee wants to talk to both of you!"

Later, down in Sick Bay

Captain Janeway stands to one side with The Doctor. Scott looks through the Sickbay forcefield at the dragon creature, which is now four feet tall.

"Doctor," says Janeway. "How can the creature start talking? I thought it didn't have the capacity for intelligent speech like that?"

"Captain, I wish I knew. It simply started talking to me and asking to meet you." "How come it wasn't affected by the changes the Collective went through?" Janeway asked.

"I've set up mupltiple Borg frequency blocking signals. Nothing the Collective does is going to affect this little guy."

"Fine." Janeway comes over to the forcefield and bends down. "I am Captain Janeway of the Federation starship Voyager."

Two probes erupt out of the floor under Janeway and stab into her neck. She staggers. Scott turns and in horror sees The Doctor...as a Borg...

Scott turns to run but another probe erupts out of the floor and wraps itself around his left ankle. He falls, catching his head on the side of a console.

"Amazing what one undetected Borg nanite can do to security systems." a voice says as a pasty-faced Janeway kneels by Scott.

Seven beams Scott out of Sickbay before he is assimilated.

Scott feels himself dissolve, and reform in the Transporter room! Seven of Nine is shaking her head.

"I never thought I'd see the day that the Collective would become....creative." she says sadly. "I REALLY am getting tired of this shit."

Seven grabs Scott and drags him over to a console. Scott sees a mess of components that looks like it's been...thrown together.

"Listen carefully." Seven says. "I have been able to contain the nanites...and the Captain and other assimilated crewmembers easily enough. However, I want YOU to end it!"

"Huh?" Scott says intelligently.

"Ever since you were assimilated by the other Seven, things have been going downhill!" Seven says with barely restrained anger. "I don't blame you for it, but you need to interface with the Collective and get it to somehow STOP. The device I made......was blocked. Take it....and whatever else you think will make a difference. You were weird enough to be able to overcome the Collective's will.....now use your weirdness to totally destroy the sucker!"

"Aren't interested in a family reunion?" Scott says with a sick smile.

"DON'T EVEN JOKE ABOUT THAT!" Seven nearly screams. She places some type of probe on Scott's head, punches a switch....and Scott meets the Collective Scott.

The Scotts struggle and cancel each other out (i.e. both die). However, this frees the assimilated.....

Scott's coffin sits in the middle of the shuttlebay. Most of the bridge crew and about twenty other officers stand around it, heads bowed. Janeway continues to speak.

"Thanks to Seven, Scott was able to interface with the Collective and shut down all the activities it was performing aboard Voyager. Sadly, Scott perished in the attempt.

"We may never know where Scott came from, or what his true purpose is, but we'll always be thankful for the sacrifice he made for this ship. B'Elanna?"

The Klingon presses a button on her tricorder. Scott's coffin rises about a foot into the air and moves towards the shuttlebay doors. They slide open. The coffin passes through the bay forcefield with a small crackle. Another control is activated and a minature thruster engine rockets Scott's coffin into faw away from the ship.

The doors shut with a clang that echoes around the bay. One by one, the crew leaves until only Janeway and Tuvok remain.

"Captain." Tuvok says.

"It's bad enough when one of my crew dies." Janeway says, staring at the spot where Scott's coffin was. "I...concur." "They knew the danger." Tuvok did not reply. "But when a stranger sacrifices himself to save the ship, I can't help but feel that somehow it is wrong." "Scott was the only person capable of confronting the Borg. We were all assimilated." "Captain Picard did not have an ex-Borg with him during the reversal process."

Janeway stares at the floor for a few seconds more. "I need some coffee. I'll be in the mess hall. Inform Paris to set a course towards home."

"Yes, Captain."

"But Scott and the Voyager hadn't seen the end of each other yet," Demifox Synizn sighs. "See, seventy other Voyagers surround Scott's coffin. "

  1. "More analogs?!" Fred asks, despite all his experiences with his "brothers" is aghast at the number of mirror images that come to mind with the little mage's words.
