Not much more than half an hour ago, there had been a body lying where she and her sister were now standing. But who could have removed it, and so quietly too? The murderers had made it clear that they were leaving in a hurry when they had failed to find her, so it could not have been them.

  1. Fortunately, though an attempt had been made to clear up, it was easy enough to spot bloodstains.
  2. There was no sign of blood. Had the rug and the TV been replaced?
