Magic!

"Let's get back to discussing what we are going to do," Astra said, wondering if she would ever be able to get such a chaotic group of people organised. "We've not made much progress so far. We haven't come up with a plan of escape, and we don't even have a muddy pool."

"I have an idea," non-furry Sara said. "Exotica is a witch, right?"

"I don't like to use the 'w' word. I prefer to call myself a magic user."

"Whatever. Anyway, that vanishing of my and Furry Sara's clothes that you did was pretty impressive, even if you couldn't magic them back again. So couldn't you magic us all out of here?"

"I could try, I suppose. Don't get your hopes up, though. It's a more ambitious spell than anything that I've ever attempted before."

Several of the Barenaked Ladies, most of whom were aware of the unreliability of Exotica's spells, spoke up simultaneously, to suggest that this might not be a very good idea. But they were too late. Exotica was already gabbling an incantation, followed by making an impressive gesture involving both of her arms.

1. Nothing whatsoever happens.

3. Surprisingly, the spell works perfectly. Unfortunately, Exotica has forgotten about Lots, still asleep in a darkened room.
4. Unfortunately Exotica has been unable to stop herself from thinking about the hippo commune. They all find themselves lying half submerged in mud, having each gained about a hundred pounds in weight.
5. The results of Exotica's spell are almost indescribable, but - luckily for the next writer - not quite.
