"No!" Stacy gasped. She felt like hitting this woman, or like crying. How could her sister not believe her? How could she betray her like this? And, even worse, the thought crawled throught the back of her mind: maybe she was right. Maybe Stacy was insane. The thought was intolerable.

The sister -- Stacy realized she didn't even know her name! -- was reaching for the phone. "No!" Stacy yelled again. She grabbed for the phone.

  1. Her sister grabbed it back from her and began dialing.
  2. Stacy ripped the phone from the wall.
  3. The phone rang.
