Luigi raised an eyebrow. "I hadn't thought of that, but I suppose it could be arranged."

"It was just a figure of speech!"

"Oh. Pity." He turned to the other men. "She's signed. You can release the dog."

"So do I get the Aqualarian Battle Queen's Garb now?" Astra asked. "You said I'd get it immediately on a loan basis."

"Yes, but that wasn't actually part of the contract, but my own generous offer, which I'm now having second thoughts about, following your initial unwillingness to sign the contract. Bear in mind that paragraph 7.113 states that, and I quote: clothing to be worn by the employee, if any, shall be determined by the employer, both during the employee's Training and during the subsequent set period of mercenary duties. As defined in the contract, 'the employee' is you, of course, and 'the employer' is Cosa Nostra Associates, that is to say me and Giorgio and our friends."

"I see. Er, this 'set period'. I should have asked about that before. How long is it, exactly?"

"That is specified in paragraph 2.43. It's:

1. "A month."
2. "Six months."
3. "Two years."
4. "Fifty years."
