"Let go of Maw's wheelchair, Gerbil," you say. Gerbil doesn't seem to understand your request. "Why?" he asks. "Look, I'm just looking for a little fun right now! It's a dull night, and I feel like getting into some trouble. Admit it, you always wanted to ride a wheelchair down the Monroe Avenue hill, haven't you?" Ah, the infamous Monroe Avenue Hill. On the outskirts of town, if you follow Monroe Avenue from downtown, you will encounter a two mile passage of Monroe as it slowly winds its way down the valley to some low lying farms and housing developments. The road is just steep enough that you could ride someting down the hill unassisted while making some really good speed. Going down the hill is the easy part. Getting back up is the hard part. The city realizes this, which is why that stretch of Monroe Avenue is closed during snowstorms, and local citizens are encouraged to take one of the half dozen alternate routes that were constructed over the years. "Come on, man, just once!" Gerbil pleas.
