Fred runs from the Teacher

Fred uses his sword to generate fog and runs from the Teacher. He did not want to stay and fight the two foot high tentacled thing. It wasn't that he could defeat it, it was that close proximity made it impart knowledge. Magically, telepathically, it was not clear. But dark secrets of the universe floated around in those thing's minds. Fred's childhood friend Bob had an uncle who had faced a Teacher. The man was now little more then a five year old. A nice and fun and lovable five year old and was potty trained but about once a week woke up with screaming nightmares and would repeat the phrase 'My god, it's full of bannanas' for about an hour. Bob used to sleep over at Fred's house a lot. Fred found himself in an odd new area. Stone bridges dominated his field of view. Going up, going down, crossing, meeting, turning, twisting, looping up...Fred had come to the largest area he had ever seen and crisscrossing it were dozens, no hundreds of stone bridges. Most were ten feet wide and had no rails. Simple beige stone. A few had support posts lining them and each post had a blazing torch. The light had a faint sheen of green/orange/red, indicating magic. A sword lay on an unreachable (for now) path. What now?
