"Oh, what is the matter with that little mongrel?" Astra sighed
peevishly, looking to see what the dog was barking about. It turned out the dwarves were surrounding her. "Oi! oi oi oi!" the dwarves started barking, hefting their pick-axes. "What is wrong with these dwarves?" Astra wondered. Suddenly some of the dwarves rushed forward, roaring and swinging the axes at Astra's unarmored body. The leonine princess of Aqualaria barely had time to back-flip away and draw her dagger. "What the hell is going on here?!" Astra demanded, looking around. The dwarves had stopped attacking but they were still standing around her and barking. "Yiiiaaaaa!!" Astra hollered. "I'll show you dwarves! Here goes!" She flung herself forward, ducking under a pick-axe swing and spin- kicking the dwarf to the ground. Another dwarf came roaring at her from the side - Astra quickly seized the fallen dwarf's shield and blocked, the second dwarf's blow deflected harmlessly away. Rocks and pebbles started flying past, as the other dwarves began to pepper her with projectiles. Cursing, Astra leapt through them like a frenzied cheetah, punching and kicking the dwarves into unconsciousness. Suddenly a dwarf came at her from behind, swinging a pick-axe at her unprotected back, but Velus went hurtling like a rocket at the dwarf's neck, throttling him with a messy spurt of blood. "Thanks!" Astra grinned, giving Velus a thumbs-up. But something else was happening now. The dwarves were retreating, as a dull rumble from a side passageway got louder and louder. From the darkness came a giant - what could only be described as a machine - five times Astra's size, glistening with the sheen of what could only be glod, and emitting vast quantities of toxic steam. From a large horn on the machine came an amplified dwarf's voice. "Nyahahahaha! You humans shall never take our glod! It's ours! All ours!! OURS!!"
