The Never Ending Quest - Episode 66623

Chiana

“O-Kaaay, what did we miss now?” I ask as patiently as I am able to manage while looking at the Quatermain family. Had been fun being the center of worship by the males of that one high school class that I heard was somehow connected to the program that selects Eva pilots, but honestly . . . their antics got dull after a while. They ARE, after all, just little boys only beginning to learn how to be men! Still, it was a great way to wind down after a rather trying session of refraining from reaching over the table and strangling that old coot, Fuyutsuki. I got what I'd been after, despite having to interrupt that rather emotional conversation between this world's Yui and him.

See, I had a VERY good reason. The time clock was ticking and don't feel like waiting meekly for my turn, thank you! Even if I didn't know exactly just when my group was to depart, I didn't feel like waiting around and dragging my feet.

I got what I was after, anyway...

Flashback...

"You came down here and butted into this just to get that clone's birthdate?!" Yui Akari screamed in the young dragoness' face, locking eyes with her as if to drill the answer out of her psychically . But Yui fails, blinking a bit and shivering despite herself. Looking away, she then turns back only to sort of freeze in her place at the rather cold smile on Chiana's lips and eyes: the smile of a dragon.

Not only are Chiana's eyes rather alien looking (check her picture out some time and see what I mean), there definitely is more than a bit of . . . something in there that makes the woman known as Yui Akari a bit . . . nervous. At the core of it all, dragons are well known to be very GOOD predators and hunters . . . with human beings being rather crunchy and tasting good with ketchup (it is said).

The guards hold back Fuyutsuki from going over and intervening, having some idea that interfering in the business of dragons is a VERY bad idea. Besides, something in the air tells them that this is more that merely idle curiosity on the former Nebari female's part.

"Calm down or I'm gonna have to hurt you," the gray skinned female coos softly, giving Yui a look that . . . kind of was chilling. "It's bad enough I had to come down here to as it is . . . I can smell that bastard you married from here. The longer I'm here . . . the more likely I might not be able to keep myself from going in and . . . Hm, shall we say doing onto HIM what he has done onto others and leave at that."

A small cantrip causes the illusion of a small fireball floating above Chiana's opened hand illustrates the true meaning of Chiana's cryptic words. If it happened that Chiana and any of the Gendo Akaris should be in the same room . . . one of them isn't going to be walking away.

The mistreatment suffered by Reika struck a nerve within Chiana, herself a victim of a pretty inhumane system. Hanging was too good for Gendo. Burning was too good for the man, in Chiana's humble opinion.

But then again it wasn't her . . . place to pass down sentence upon the bastards. At least that is what she told herself, not wishing to get tangled up in affairs any more than she and the others had to here. Honestly, these people around here had been trying her patience as it stood. The sooner they go the better.

As an aside, surprisingly enough when approached Dr. Ritsuko Akagi had not been able to provide Reika's birth date. With everything else on her plate, such things just didn't seem . . . important enough to look into for the doctor AND her former lover had actually rather discouraged such lines of inquiry, anyway.

Thus why she was here, despite being on a slow burn of anger from just smelling Gendo's sent. Since the former Deputy Commander of NERV had the information, good and well. Now she could leave and not risk her temper getting the best of her! Not even the great and powerful Yui Akari, laying at her feet and gaping up at her in shock for having been struck was going to stop her departure.

However, as a courtesy if nothing else, Chiana answers Yui's shrieked question.

"Because of a birthday we are HERE with you all," the dragoness explains slowly, as if Yui Akari was a slow child. "A Champion's 18th birthday is probably the most important one of 'em all, you see! Not only do they stop aging at that point but it's the most likely time big and important Quests get handed out by our Bosses, you know.

"Like to dress appropriately for the next big outings you see," Chiana coos before turning and leaving the flabbergasted people behind.

"Sister Lilith's been adopted into the family," Reika says happily, smiling.

Hm, she's gonna be as big of heartbreaker as her older sister over there when she grows a bit more. Already has quiet the bod on her, honestly....

"Hey . . .that's fantastic!" I blink.

What, again? I had thought at the time that the us Champions have a bad habit of picking up strays was just a joke, but . . .

"Hm, makes a pretty good birthday present for you there," I add.

Reika and Lilith look at me strangely.

"As of half an hours ago you turned fifteen officially," I explain. "Which really is kinda drad in a way, being that this is also Rei's 18th birthday today!"

"It's your birthday also?" Lilith looks at her sisters. "I happened to have turned fifteen myself back only just shortly before we . . .er . . . bumped into each other. Well, the body I now wear happens to be fifteen years old now, anyway."

"Three on one day," Sigin mutters, shaking his head slightly. "God ever so does have a sense of irony if not humor!"

So with that Dr. Ritsuko Akagi, Tabris, and the G-Man arrives minutes later to a somewhat lively discussion centered around Lilith. Something of a route map has already been laid forth upon the table which the G-Man recognizes as a relic from the Iconians. Just how in the name of all the gods did these people get their hands on it?! His race had been scowering the heavens and other diminsions and . . .

"No . . . one must expect such things of those who are connected with the Dark Tower," he muses softly to himself.

  1. Meanwhile, Dr. Akagi is listening raptly as the Champions speak. It is most . . . enlightening about the nature of Neon Genesis Angels in general and the former Second Angel in particular.
