The unconscious Fred, in Carola's body, was dragged out of the room by
Astra. The knight lying paralyzed on the ground some distance away could
only watch. Astra was a traitor? What was going to happen to Carola?
More importantly, what was really happening?
Something was very strange. Was it the poison addling his senses, or was
it something more? He was still very much unable to move at all, so he
could only lie on the cold ground and contemplate what was going on.
Something was amiss, however. Fred didn't remember the poison entering his
veins. Astra had mentioned that she had began asphyxiating him, but he
didn't remember any such thing. He remembered Carola pretending to choke
him. Carola was on his side, it seemed. The younger girl could have easily
finished him off, but she had deceived her older sister, and had spared
him.
Things began to slowly come back to him. He remembered sitting in the
cell, he remembered Astra and Fred rescuing him [15590], he remembered
seeing Fred fall prey to the venom [15905]...
Wait. These memories...they belonged to Belinda and to Carola.
He wasn't Fred at all! The knight's body was his, true, but the memories,
the thoughts, were all wrong. What was even more confusing is that the
memories that continued to come back were those belonging to both Belinda
and Carola, as though the identities of both somehow occupied the same
body! How was this possible? And how had this happened, a switching of
bodies? Who was that inhabiting Carola's body, then? And what would happen
once the paralysis wore off?
Then again, the poison would last in the area of two days. Being paralyzed
over the course of two days in the middle of a cavern full of perils
wasn't healthy, but there was no choice. Hopefully nothing would
happen...in the meantime, the individual(s?) in the body could only lie on
the ground and try to sort everything out.
