I won't know until way after the fact for a LONG time once this is said and done with the Quest, if EVER. Pray for the best, though....

Well, went and gone on and finished off by explaining the “sister” deal between Shinji and Reika, not going into the fact that now that that is in the open there is no reason for her to fear Shinji abandoning her for Reika as far as . . . .the relation she wants. I tell that it only had come to light of Reika being Shinji’s long lost sister (from a different . . . er. . . relationship from Gendo) AND hinted strongly about abuses and even illegal genetic manipulations (i.e. the reason for the “de- angelification” business). . . . in the name of bringing about Third Impact.

"Why in God's name would the Commander and the rest of NERV actually want to-to . . . ?" Asuka whispers, horrified.

"And I thought that my childhood was f*cked up?" she adds under her breath, glancing over at Reika, who's now (along with that Fred Takahashi fellow) talking with little Rei I. At least the little girl is less upset about things, now.

But I AM going to do something here soon for . . . nevermind. I'll get to that here in a moment. I have not forgotten that Asuka here owes some people here an apology!

Well, if nothing else in this discussion I do believe that (at least for the moment) she's now on Reika's and Rei's side (and by extension MY group's side). Hm, sometimes miracles happen OR . . . maybe this Asuka is suffering from a moment of clarity?

It would be early, this clarity (and only came about when she realized while under attack that she wanted to live). Still, she IS a rather intelligent woman (got a full college degree before coming here to Japan . . .all before age fourteen).

Remains to be seen just how long my luck holds... But that said for now I DO believe that if nothing else, this business that Gendo Akari had (and the real purpose of NERV) more than shocked Asuka here.

At least she's getting the point I'm trying to put out for her here!

"Yes, I could go into much more detail than that but I tread closely upon breaking faith with my new niece by saying things I probably should not," I finish up. Not that there is much more to tell or that I could reveal about Reika, but still there are some personal things that Asuka here need not know. "But we did convince Reika to abandon Gendo's mad schemes . . . and as it stands Instrumentality is an impossibility anyway."

"That . . . that woman over there isn't the same doll I . . .she isn't the same!" Asuka sputters out, pointing back at the general direction where Reika had been standing.

I use the past tense because she's no longer standing and talking with little Rei I over in the corner...the feathers of her wings ruffling every once in a while as she glances angrily over at Asuka when the Second Child isn't looking. No, she's not over there.

She's here.
