"I might be," Astra said, wondering whether pretending to be this Fifi La Roux might be a good cover story for her to use. She didn't notice Fred wince. He had never heard of Fifi either but, more worldly than Astra, he knew that girls with names like that were usually exotic dancers - or worse.

Enrique evidently took her answer as a yes. "That's fantastic," he said. "I saw you on stage once, several years ago. That was back in Hespan, of course."

Astra assumed that Fifi must be an actress. That seemed harmless enough - the only plays that she knew of were the Aqualarian classic dramas - and could be quite a good cover story. "Yes, that was me," she said. "What role was I playing when you saw me?"

  2. "I wouldn't call being an exotic dancer a role, exactly."
  3. "Ha-ha-ha! You're having me on. What role, indeed!"
  4. "A princess who had been captured by a dragon, and chained naked to a wall." (Something that hasn't actually happened to Astra in this thread.)
