"Oh," Astra replied. "Why is that?"
"Because more often than not, they're designed to do ill rather than good. Plus, even if your potion is a 'good' potion, it may still have harmful effects if you're not the species/gender/age/disease-victim that the potion was designed for," the man answered. "And, of course, if you take into account the fact that potions (especially red ones) tend to mutate and change over relatively short periods of time...well, all in all, it's very difficult to find any potion whose effects will be truly predictable." The man nodded his head thoughtfully, as if to imply to the listener that he was quite the expert in all things potions. "I see," said Astra, who hoped desperately for this man to shut up and leave. Suddenly, she hiccuped. The man appeared to notice this hiccup and got a very worried look on his face. "What's happening?" he asked. "Oh, dear," responded Astra. "I think I know what the potion is doing to me..."
