they had walked into an ambush, with archers both ahead of and behind
them. Were the attackers men who had got wind of the dragon's death, hoped
to loot his treasure, and had managed to reach the caves ahead of them?
"Lay down your arms, if you want to live!" one of their enemies called to them.
