Fortunately Astra was wearing armour made of steel, and the arrow pinged
harmlessly off her (rather impressive) breastplate. (Fred's prize money
had been put to good use in equipping the party.) But she was not
invulnerable to attack. Full armour was too heavy and too restricting of
movement to go exploring caves in, and her face, neck, arms and legs were
either wholly or relatively unprotected. Fred was similarly attired, but
Exotica and Velus had only leather armour, not having the strength or
training to cope with metal armour.
Fred and Astra drew their swords (unfortunately they did not have an archer in their party).
