"They should have done," Exotica said.

"But the cavern system is very large and complex," Velus said. "They may not be able to find their way out without help."

"I don't want to risk getting lost in there myself," Fred said. "The map that I was given proved not at all accurate."

"I managed to acquire a pretty good knowledge of the place," Velus said. "I could act as your guide."

"Then there's the dragon's treasure to think of," Astra pointed out. "It would be a pity not to try to collect at least some of it. Why don't the three of us go?"

1. Exotica wasn't going to let Fred go off with Astra without being present herself. "Make that the four of us," she said.
2. Exotica scowled, but said nothing.
3. "Why don't just Velus and Astra go?" Exotica suggested. "It's more or less on Astra's way home, and it doesn't really need a third person."
