Not only was the dragon tiny and living in a treasure chest, the chest was furnished as a tiny little bachelor's apartment.
When Fred opened the chest, the dragon was

  1. in the living room with a crystal ball, watching the equivalent of porn videos.
  2. in the kitchen cooking knightburgers.
  3. asleep in the bedroom dreaming up wild schemes.
  4. naked in the shower. She screamed and covered herself. (And yes, it turned out to really be a female,)
  5. in the study, with Miss Scarlet and the candlestick.
  6. crawling through a secret passage. Which wasn't really secret to someone who could see the whole apartment from above.
