The Top Drawer

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 6245

The filing cabinet seemed the best place to look for information about herself and her life. A number of things were puzzling her. She had a nice apartment, quite well furnished, and yet the only bank account she knew about had only seven dollars in it. Also, how come she didn't seem to have any credit cards? And the items she had found in her bag didn't seem to be at all the sort of things that you'd have expected to find in the bag of someone who had a doctorate.

The filing cabinet was locked, but one of the keys on her keyring unlocked it. So much for security, she thought, remembering that she had apparently forgotten her keys and left them on the kitchen table when she went out.

She pulled out the top drawer. It contained:

  1. An untidy jumble of paperwork and correspondence of all types.
  2. Bundles of large denomination banknotes, piled high! Had she robbed a bank? With all this cash, presumably she didn't need credit cards or money in the bank.
  3. A typescript of a book: "Use of Statistical Mathods in Stock Market Forecasting" by Dr ST Jones.
