The Never Ending Quest - Episode 6241

Stacy looked at the bookshelves. The top one was given over to popular science fiction hardbacks, mostly 'Star Trek'. The second and third shelves were pop-culture magazines. The fourth shelf was Grisham and Clancy thrillers. The fifth and last shelf held the jackpot. Science books. Quantum string theory, Hawking books, atomic bombs, books on the interaction the sun with the time-space continuim. Pretty heady stuff! Stacy opened a book at random and was astonished to discover that she understood it!

She put the open book on the floor and nudged the mouse on the PC. The flying monitor wallpaper vanished, and a screen of text came up. Stacy read the first sentence.

What did the first sentence on the PC say, dear readers?

  1. "Once upon a time, in a magical fantasy land."
  2. "-traneous thoughts are wrong. We must, if we are at all moral, eliminate them."
  3. "COMING TO TAKE ME AWAY, HA HA."
  4. "...first tests are tommorow. Steve says he wants to go first but I know him. He'll head for the nearest newspaper stand and memorize lottery numbers. Bastard."
  5. "X to the eigth power should equal 10 million squared the the Cray computers don't agree! Why? It should by all rights."
