"No Luck, Velus."

While Lord Fred was relieved that the man he had so carelessley killed was an evil man, he still berated himself for the lack of thought. Why had he allowed murderous impulses to overwhelm him? Fred decides to see if the spell book could help him answer that.

The book snapped shut, spun around three times and vanished from sight.
"A limited-use spell book." Fred said. "It looks like it won't be able to help us anymore. Come, Velus, our best hope is to destroy the dragon and end its evil. Are you with me?"
"BARK!" Yes!

Approximately ten minutes later, the passageway ended in a landing. The path continued, switchbacking down the wall to the ground. The ground was a pit of sand, about three hundred yards square. A manually constructed wooden-slat bridge had been built a foot over the surface of the sand. On the other end the way continued through a torch lined hallway. Fred could see only a dozen feet of the other way, though.

1. Lord Fred and Velus take the walkway over the sand.
2. Lord Fred and Velus backtrack and venture forth another way.
3. The level of the sand suddenly rises and begins filling the tunnel.
