The Never Ending Quest - Episode 62140

The genie was able to arrange Astra and you to see a screening of Stand By Your Man - not that the other people there watching it would have noticed you. The genie had made sure you were both invisible and inaudible.

The movie started like this:

First there was an establishing shot of Los Angeles, followed by a close up of a sign that said 'Crozier Fashionwear' in red letters on a white background. Next was a shot of an office and pictures of dress designs on the walls, the camera panning to reveal a woman (Sandy Carlisle) sitting at a desk. The phone rings, and we learn that the woman is called Vivien and she is the wife of a man called Marcus (Edward DeSouza) who's currently in Paris for the Fashion Show. Switch to Marcus who informs us that he's got some clothes designs being paraded on the continent for the first time, and initial impressions are good.

Switch to another man at the fashion show - Joseph Ketterman. He is a rival of the Crozier's who always seem to do better business than him. Something that seems to being happening even now, as he bitterly comments. Fed up with playing second fiddle to the Crozier's, he hatches a plan to eliminate his rivals. Kidnap Vivien Crozier, and instead of demanding money for her safe return, he will demand that Crozier quits the fashion industry for good.

Ketterman hires two nameless men to try and kidnap Vivien. It looks like they're father and son going by the age difference. They make their attempt late one night. They manage to disable the alarm systems and get into the Crozier's house - but then things start to go wrong. The flashlight one of the men is carrying suddenly goes out. The batteries are dead. They didn't bring a spare flashlight or spare batteries, which starts them bickering and shoving each other about. The noise they create wakes up Vivien. Not easily scared by anything, she goes downstairs to investigate.

One man is dazed on the floor while the other is still standing when Vivien switches the light. The one standing goes for her, so she grabs the nearest object close to her - an antique vase - and smashes him over the head with it. He goes down. The other man gets unsteadily to his feet and makes his way towards her. She's wearing pyjamas, and her back to the camera, starts undoing the buttons of her top before exposing her breasts at him. The man stares like an idiot, transfixed - until she slugs him with a right hook. She contacts the police and the two men are arrested.

Ketterman overhears a conversation Marcus has with Vivien and realises that the plan failed. So he hurriedly thinks of a plan B: He'll kidnap Marcus instead. Naturally, this attempt is more successful. So the rest of the film deals with Vivien's attempts to rescue her husband.

The movie ends, and Astra says it was not the complete washout she was expecting. However, she has a problem with the part that near the beginning of the movie where Vivien exposes herself. You tell her that was tame in comparison to other movies.

"Tame?" she asks you. "What do you mean by that?"

"Well, you noticed that her back was to the camera, right?" She nods so you continue: "Well, that was for two reasons; you see the reaction of the man, and to hide the fact that she is actually covered.

"If the director of the movie wanted more titilation, he'd throw in a 'breast shot' in there, where the audience would get to see bare breasts. Some actors and actresses have a no nudity clause in their contracts which means they never have to appear naked. So if they're in a movie that requires their character to strip, they use a body double."

  1. You continue explaining various move-related things.
  2. Astra comments that she would like to meet Sandy Carlisle if possible.
