The Never Ending Quest - Episode 61929

Mina

"Now that that's taken care of . . . ," Inquirer begin after that little . . . .that woman had been escorted out of our affairs, she then pauses in slight consternation as she hears something rather loud.

Sigh, another quirk of my new nature, I see . . .in my old human body while it had never been THAT loud . . .

. . .

Say, when was it the last time this young girl's eaten?

"I ask her that aloud and . . .

"That long?" I blink. "Why, you should have said something earlier dear! We'd would have gladly at least broken out some . . .um . . . MERs to . . ."

"MREs," Inquirer corrected softly.

"MREs to break the fast," I continue, nodding a quick thanks for the correction. "There had been a few spots while we'd taken short breathers we could had done that, dear. You knew we'd had some, right?"

We'd made mention of it in passing, somewhere. During some kind of taking stock in our equipment situation (though WHY Inquirer and Elrondir had felt a need I do not totally understand. Some kind of tactical analysis, I gather?)

"I . . .did at that," she begins, looking slightly embarrassed by the way her face colors a little bit. "However . . . the MREs I've heard mentioned by various NERV members let me to believe it would be better to wait because and there is. . . Well . . ."

"Their not exactly high cuisine," Inquirer explains when Rei falters. "And I understand the hesitation. Military rations like MREs, Meals Ready to E have been nicknamed 'Meals Refused by the Enemy' for good reason. Hey, even Chiana's food cubes are better than that slop, taste wise!"

"You're kidding me, right?" Chiana blinks. "Food cubes are . . . well . . . dren."

Uh, right.

B'Elanna mutters something about needing salt for Farscapian food cubes, and then smiles a bit.

"Hey, it's no problem Rei!" she says soflty. "Not wanting to eat MREs but wait for a better source of foods okay and we're not insult. Trust us."

"Oh, not that it would have been a problem," she shakes her head slightly, seeing we'd gotten it wrong. "I've eaten worse tasting food, trust ME. The cafeteria at NERV alone is . . ."

She shakes her head slightly, remembering some of the more . . . interesting dishes ruined by the galley cooks.

"The thing that really prevented me from the MREs is that I'm a vegetarian and you only had meat dishes." she finishes up.

Yes, that could be a problem at that.

"Though . . . I have fond memories of several types of Japanese meat dishes," she adds with a bit of consternation. "That . . .other's memories of some rather spicy but tasty ones are . . ."

She shakes her head slightly, of two minds about it now.

. . .

Oh dear, the "other" would be her memories inherited from that . . .hrmph . . . .woman named Yui Akari. Now, isn't THAT just a strange twist, eh? To put it mildly that is a VERY odd twist.

"Well, I know of some food replicator protocols that can make some rather convincing 'soy based imitations' as it were," B'Elanna volunteered, going over to a unit which seems to have seen heavy use (Dr. Vincent seemed to take the easy road to meal preparations, I see).

Well, I am heartened to see Rei's eyes brighten up at that one. Our winged one here can indulge without the sin, as it were...

As I sit back and watch B'Elanna fiddle with the food replicator I must say . . .today has been a bloody STRANGE one, to say the least.

I could go on and on about it, but I shall not except for one thing. Let me say that . . . I am glad that not all these so called "Angels" (who I am SO very glad to say were NOT real angels . . . would hate to have to suddenly be perhaps whisked up to Heaven by an angry God to explain why we should be interfering in HIS plans) are monsters.

I'd asked the others who had varying degrees of

Rei . . .

. . .

  1. I am . . .I shall have to say that I've grown rather fond of this amazing girl.
