A Difference of Opinion

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 61744

"Jegar the t-toll collector?" Hesht said. "I know him too. He is a g-good man."

"But would it be right for us to impose on him?" Astra asked. "A single guest is one thing, but three might put rather a strain on his hospitality. Also I would be happier if we spent the night on the far side of the border. I know that it is very unlikely that we would run into any trouble with the Hespan authorities tonight, but I would rather not take the chance if it can be avoided."

"I am sure that Jegar would welcome our company," Sabok said. "His wife died last year, and he's been rather lonely since then, not being the type to go out to an inn of an evening. Besides, I've heard that the fare at the White Hospital, whilst it's nourishing enough, is rather on the plain side. Bread and cheese mostly, with little in the way of meat. And, far worse, there's no alcohol."

Astra laughed at the exaggeratedly mournful look that he put on for her benefit as he said this.

  1. "Very well then, Jagar's it is. I couldn't possibly ask you to submit to such terrible privations."
  2. "I really would be more comfortable once we are across the border. Of course, we could always say our farewells, with you staying the night with Jagar and Hesht and myself going on to the White Hospital."
  3. "What do you think, Hesht? It looks like you have the casting vote."
