Both Fred and Stralene recognised that, for all Jake's uncouth ways, they
owed him a great debt. For, when all was said and done, it was he who had
slain the dragon. So, hollering and screaming in the hope of scaring off
the monkeys, they ran to his aid. If Stralene had been alone, she could
have flown out of trouble, but her wings would not provide enough lift to
rescue even one of the two men, and she was not going to abandon them.
As they drew closer, they saw that Jake was wielding his huge sickle- like weapon and causing carnage with it, but there were too many of the demon monkeys and he was weakening under their assault. Fred drew his sword, whilst Stralene regretted that she herself was weaponless.
