As much as Fred wanted to go after the bandits who had been groping
Tarsa, his geohound instincts told him the crossbow wielder was the
immediate threat. It dosen't matter what order I take them on.
Fred
thought to himself, I'll cut them all down, any which way.
He charged furiously, sword raised. The bowman got off one more bolt, which glanced off of Fred's shoulder armor. Fred was upon him just as he finished reloading. The bowman made a desperate attempt to parry, but Fred ducked and ran him through. Fred grabbed the crossbow from the bandit's lifeless grip even as he fell to the ground. He brought it up to shoulder level and fired a precise bolt at one of the other brigands who was charging. The bolt struck the unfortuante man in the neck, and he fell quickly, coughing blood. That left the two bandits who had been harassing Tarsa, as well as the leader, who had shown no inclination to join the fight just yet. Tarsa lay prone on the ground, unconscious. Probably for the best. I wouldn't want her to have to see what I'm about to do to these guys. Fred thought, raising his bloodied sword. He offered his oppenents a teeth-bearing growl. "Let's get on with it!" These two were surprisingly adequate swordsmen, the kind that might normally have given him some trouble. But Fred was fighting on a higher level than he ever had before, rage and adrenaline fueling him, pushing his battered body to the maximum. Their dance of blades was raged for what seemed like an eternity, in reality only a few minutes. Fred cut them both down in turn, the second via a brutal decapitation. He stopped then to catch his breath, standing amidst his fallen foes, the ground stained with blood, his own and that of his enemies. "Well done, Geohound!" The bandit leader laughed. "Valmar exults in the bloodlust you have displayed today!" He had, during the course of Fred's swordfight, positioned himself between Fred and Tarsa. "I already told you, I don't care about Valmar, Granas, the whole lot of them. But if you hurt that girl you'll beg for mercy soon afterwards, not from any god, but from me!" Fred replied, hefting his sword up again.
