Sorry for dropping by unannounced like this...

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 61184

Fertal

"Do hope that Digory does not mind our rather unannounced arrival," Aslan says softly, treading ahead of us. He then pauses briefly as a doorway (to a wardrobe of all things!) opens with only a small nod from the loin, and then we step through.

"Dare say that he would gladly drop everything for the sake of the Great Lion," I venture. "Granted, it may have been decades for him since last you and he had met and rather more than a few centuries from the time since Narnia was sung into being."

Aslan glances back at me, giving me a slight look of approval.

"True that but still this next meeting I would wish to start off on the right paw," he smiles slightly (a sight that somehow fit his noble leonine features rather well). "Good manners if nothing else . . . but here we are: Earth."

Well, must say that things do not look too different from any OTHER human fashioned room I have ever encountered, before or after having come into my rightful form. As son of a duke back while I was a human being I had bigger (and better smelling . . . do not at all care for this smell given off by these "mothball" things), but then again this is a VERY respectable closet. Have to remember that this uncle of the Pevensie children is rather wealthy (for the moment at least)

. . .

Big enough to accommodate almost all of our large group (minus cows) in a pinch. anyway. Must say that there IS something to be said about riches that allow for such extravagances such as this. . . .big rooms for big houses.

Good, considering as an elf I rather DO not care for tight, enclosed spaces. Even our smaller rooms in our buildings we elves at least put efforts into giving a false impression of open and wide outdoors...

...

But that is besides the point.

'Tis time to introduce ourselves to the homeowners and his guests (again).

Moments earlier . . .

"Stop pushing," Susan complains right before the wardrobe door flies open and all four fall on floor, the door to the room opens and the professor walks in with the very cricket ball which had smashed through a stained glass window earlier, causing the children to somewhat panic and hide in the wardrobe in the first place.

"Hey?" Peter blinks, looking around and noticing that in that pileup only his siblings had been involved! The Champions who'd been following were nowhere to be found!

"W-where is Alicia and the others?" Edmund mutters to himself, looking around like expecting them to have somehow gotten ahead and hid themselves from sight.

"There you are," the Professor says. "Now what were children doing the wardrobe? And . . . what are you looking for?"

It couldn't be overlooked that the children seem somewhat distracted as they keep glancing around and behind them, expecting their friends to show. With slight hesitation (and a bit of a sinking feeling), Peter turns to answer.

Darn it, it would have been SO much easier to be believed with some of their decidely more non-human friends in tow....

They exit the room where the wardrobe is stowed and march into a nearby library, the broken window lets in a slight breeze and the lights glisten slightly on the shards of glass on the ground. On the whole while Peter and the others are rather happy to be back safe and sound, this scene is something of a reminder that there are still certain things to be done here.

It is called 'facing the music' in some circles....

"You wouldn't believe us if we told you," Peter begins, shaking his head at the task ahead. He then catches the cricket ball and notices that there is a decided twinkle in the old man's eyes, as if to say . . .

"Try me," the professor smiles.

  1. "Well, to start with some of if involves us," a high timbered voice interrupts before Peter (or any of the children) can try at that. "Oh, and sir I do apologize for dropping by unannounced and all that . . ."
