Fred was stunned. Two dragons, not just one...maybe. This was too much.
Fred felt even more ill-prepared than before. He needed reinforcements if
indeed there were two dragons. But he didn't want to go back to
the King without something as a prize. He deftly tiptoed towards the
sounds of digging that Farfard mentioned as belonging to diamond miners.
As he crept to the edge of the tunnel he saw gleams of candlelight glinting off crystaline shards. ~~diamonds!~~ thought Fred. He also saw the many forms of the miners: little men not taller than a baby's doll but with bushy beards and ugly, grey and warted skin. ~~those don't look like dwarves... could they be gnomes? maybe gnoles, or even bingham critters!~~ Fred stood, still as a shadow just out of reach of any light. He pondered what to do. IF there was more than one dragon he had to get word to his King, he also needed help. But if he could learn more of this other dragon, and this possible dragon-war then that knowledge could gain his people a tactical edge. And if he stayed in these caves just a bit longer and traced a new map, that would help one and all. Each scenario brought Fred rewards and recognition from his King. All, except the scenario that ended with his being found by the Dragon or its horde and being roasted, chewed, sliced, or simply expunged.
