Cecil's Phobia

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 60867

The Slasher took out a rusty old chain of keys and unlocked the cell door, but before Fred and Cecil could leave, he stepped in front of the exit.

"Just know, that if I eva catch you two maniacs causing trouble again, I'll be feeding your bodies to the crows."

"Get out of my way goat breath!" retorted Fred, shoving the Slasher's face backwards, sending his whole body back into a pile of waste left in another cell. Before the Slasher could say another word, they were gone.

"You think you're so clever, don't you? I should have let him keep you the way you behaved. Do you always have to resort to violence to settle your problems?" Sister Sharon fumed once they were outside.

"He was asking for it Sister. He had his face less than foot away from mine. If you had gotten a whiff of his breath, you would have done the same."

"Enough." She said firmly. "I want us all to forget about this incident for now. When we get to the church, I need both of you at your fullest attention- oh, I'm sorry. You may leave if you would like." She said, gesturing Cecil.

"No, sister, I owe you one. I'm more than willing to help you with whatever's your problem. Plus, if you're looking for brutes like Fred to help you, I'm your kind of guy." His faced then frowned. "Although I would like to clear something up. Back their in the cells, you called me a child."

"Well, are you a man yet?" Sister Sharon shot back.

Cecil's face went red. "No, but I will be in few months-"

"And until then, you're still legally a child, so I will continue to call you what you properly are." She finished.

Cecil wasn't too pleased about this, but he didn't push the subject any further. "So…What about this problem you're having."

"Now is not the time to discuss it" Sister warned. "Wait until we reach the church."

"Fred!" A voice suddenly called from above. Everyone nearby looked up and there was Skye, flying above them.

"Skye!" Fred called back, waving his hand in the air. Skye flew down and perched himself atop Fred's left shoulder.

"So Fred, I heard you've been getting into some trouble." He said with a crooked smile.

"It's not my fault," Fred protested as he continued walking forward. "Those bastard Slashers will start up a fight just so that they can show off. You know that."

"Always coming up with excuses, aren't we?"

Fred was about to retort when he noticed that Cecil wasn't walking beside him anymore. "Cecil?" Fred said, turning around. He sighed in relief when he spotted him only a few yards behind him, leaned up against an old shack.

"Hey, sister, hold up." Fred called back, and then headed towards Cecil.

"Cecil?" Fred called out when he reached him. "You alright?" It didn't look that way. His eyes were as wide as coins and his chin was dropped in uttermost horror. He appeared to be struggling not to shake.

Cecil stood up straight and asked in a stuttering voice "Is…tha-that a ha-haw-hawk-k?"

Fred blinked. "Yes." He answered slowly. "What's your point?" Cecil said nothing, but it didn't matter. Fred realized what was going on.

"You're scared of him." Fred laughed. "You're scared of bloody birds!"

Cecil's face hardened. "Not birds, only hawks. And you would be too if one tried to eat you alive when you were little more than a babe!" He said, his voice rising as he spoke.

Fred continued to grin. "Right, but that was when you were a babe. Now, you're nearly a man-or so I thought." He snickered. "You have the guts to take on a crowd of Slashers yet you cower in fear over a bird."

In the flash of a second, Cecil reached for his belt and before Fred realized what was going, he had a knife up to his throat. Fred's body went stone.

"Make no mistake, geohound; I'm not a nice guy." Cecil whispered into Fred's ear." I could spill your blood upon this-OW!" Cecil, in his rage appeared to have forgotten that Skye was perched on Fred's shoulder. After Cecil had the knife up to Fred's throat, Skye nipped at the Slasher's hand, nearly biting a finger off. Cecil's knife tumbled onto the wet, muddy ground.

"I'LL BUTCHER THAT BLOODY BIRD!" Cecil shrieked once he recovered. He grabbed his knife and waved it at the hawk, but Skye had already flown back out of his range. Fred wasted no time taking advantage of the situation. He curled his fist and released a punch, sending Cecil's body colliding into the wall of the old shack. Cecil groaned and fell to his knees. His head drooped low, staring at the ground, panting vigorously. He appeared to be dazed from the blow.

"Now that I finally have your attention, we can clear up this mess," Fred yelled angrily, panting for breath as well. "First of all, I don’t give care how pissed off you are, NEVER hold a knife up to my throat again, do you hear me?" Cecil said nothing. Fred continued. "Second of all, Skye's with me and he's staying with me. If you can't deal with him, tough luck. Lastly, watch your frickin' temper, you bloody maniac!" He finished hypocritically.

Fred took a long breath. He suddenly began to question what he'd done. "Maybe I shouldn't have been so hard on him. After all, I'd almost consider him a friend. Suddenly, Cecil vomited blood over the ground. Groans of disgust came from surrounding citizens. It was then Fred noticed how many people were actually crowding around them. "Shit. Not another crowd. If we get arrested again, not even the church will be able to bail us out."

"Here," said Fred, holding out his hand to Cecil. "Sorry if I dazed you a bit. I just had to get your attention."

  1. Cecil let out a deranged scream and tackled Fred.
  2. Cecil slap Fred's hand out of the way and got up and spat at Fred's feet. "Good luck with problem, chump. I'm outta here."
  3. "Don't apologize. I deserved that." Cecil stuttered as he accepted Fred's aid.
