Tarsa Takes a Plunge

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 60860

"NO!" Fread screamed as he watched Tarsa' petite form disappear over the waterfall's edge. He scrambled to the edge and looked down, but could see nothing through the cascading mists at the waterfall's base, aside from some jagged rock formations. It wouldn't have mattered anyway, he thought grimly. Even if she missed the rocks, falling from this distance...

Fred sank to his knees. "Damn it!" He drove his fist into the rocky ground in frustration, so hard that his knuckles bled. "Damn you, Granas! Why? Why did you have to take her?" he shouted to the air.

Skye hopped gamely over to Fred's side. "Fred..."

"Leave me alone, Skye." he said sharply. Skye did as he was told, understanding the need to give his friend some time, and limped silently away.

Fred shook his head in anger again. Why do I feel this way? I barely knew her. I'm a Geohound. A professional. I'm not supposed to become emotionally attached to my clients, for this very reason.

But, despite the protests of his rational brain, Fred still felt incredibly angry, frustrated and confused.

  1. Just then, Sister Sharon stumbled into the clearing. Fred realized with horror that he would have to break the news of Tarsa's death to her.
  2. The injured man from the forest appears in the clearing. "That devil woman got what she deserved." he says. In a fit of rage, Fred attacks the man.
  3. Overwhelmed with conflicting emotions, Fred himself leaps over the edge.
  4. Tarsa flies back up to the ledge, but now sports a large set of black wings protruding from her back, and a malicious look in her eyes. The work of the dark god, Valmar?
  5. Tarsa floats back up to the ledge, surounded by brilliant golden light. A miracle of Granas?
