Windham's Tavern was half full or so. Farmers for the most part although there were some townsfolk and clerical servants. At a table of their own sat severely dressed divines. Three of them, two fathers and a mother. Windham was serving, and so were both of his slatterns. By the fire a grizzled old sailor was sat on a stool, travellers, pilgrims and common labourers around him, entranced by his tale. "There were tales told tall and true about Sir Fred. Why, there were so
many of these tales that in the end we never knew what was right and what
not about his quests and his achievements. There was a little laughter at that. The storyteller shrugged expansively at the humour. "Aye that's the conundrum, which is nothing but a fancy word for riddle." The divines exchanged a glance, one with the other. "But I can tell you some things as I know to be true. Because I was there..."
