"I've got a rope," Flatulence said.

"Very useful, not!" Bitchy said. "Seeing as there's no way of attaching the end of the rope to anything at the top of the pit."

"We could use the rope to tie up Astra," Josh Burbank suggested.

"The rope would be very useful if one of us could only manage to get out of the pit, though," Astra said, wisely ignoring Josh's remark. "Then he could let down the rope to the others."

"The pit's only about twenty feet deep," [276] Fred pointed out. "So if Astra stood on my shoulders, and then the dwarfs all stood on top of one another on top of her, then the top dwarf should easily be high enough to get out. Then he can let down the rope for the rest of us."

1. So that was what they did. It worked.
2. So that was what they did. But it didn't work, as Fred buckled under the weight of Astra and all those dwarfs.
3. But there was a problem. Nobody wanted to be the one who was immediately underneath Flatulence.
4. By majority vote, they decided that Josh's idea would be more fun.
