Change of fated couples . . .

He smiles at me with a rather . . .unnerving smile?

The person before me then blurs and changes a bit as he (?) rises from the prone position he’d been in, only the smile remaining of the original . . . thing I’d seen before me! Now? I have before me a . . .blue eyed (!) demifox female dressed in some rather exotic robes.

. . .

What in Tiamat’s name have I just witnessed? This cannot be Fred and . . . I’ve been played for a fool! Before that thought can be followed up upon (like raising some sort of defensive magical screen) I suddenly feel a chill of magic. With only a slight gesture from this female . . .

Can’t move! Had gone into this situation with minimal spells upon my self to avoid detection and now I shall PAY for it. Maybe with my very life…

I do hope that when I do meet the Lady, she’ll look kindly on my foolishness and let me into the hereafter…

“My . . . somehow when I detected that fate connection I had expected the rescuer . . . to be male by this time,” the female sighs. “Guess then again I must have misjudged. You Westerner barbarians, I have noticed, tend to frown upon rather strongly on those who ‘walk on the wrong side of the street’ shall we say!”

Excuse me? What is this . . . female babbling about?

“Girl, bring tea!” Akira orders, without even looking behind me to see if she is being obeyed.

“Yes mistress,” a sweet sounding young female kitsune (her newest . . . servant for the moment . . . what remains of the original Lord Fred) comes up from the side with piping hot tea pot and cups at the ready.

If you have not already figured it out, not only did the servant return early with the needed ritualistic ingrediants but they also did a fantastic job at delaying Synizn long enough for the transformation prayer ritual to be successful . . . you'd be correct.

. . .

But the story doesn't quiet end here. As was hinted just a bit earlier, there is some kind of connection between our now feminized and "kitsunized" Lord Fred (who's yet to be officially named by Akira). That "fate link" also causes those tied to the fate of one to be . . . .transformed as well. Akira thinks that the demifox female before her (who'll she'll have killed in a moment by her word . . . right after this tea) had been that linked life. Being that those linked that way are rather close (sharing a bond in some manner . . . Astra and Fred had the beginings of a soul linking romance here IF things hadn't been . . .changed) Akira thinks that . . . well, I believe that we needn't go into that really.

Surely you can figure out what Akira thought was the relationship between Fred and Synizn. Oh there is a relationship, but one due to that deal which lifted Synizn out of his cursed life (a special bond and obligation in and of itself). More on that in a moment...because it's going to be a bit confusing!

The person affected (and knocked out by magical back backlash) are not only Astra, but the newlyborn kits. The male kits,the female kits, and Astra will find themselves transformed in gender (and slowly but irrevocably transforming from demifox to one tailed kitsune . . . but that's in a while yet).

AS an aside, Akira is something of a snob and calls those entities who are transformed THAT way "scab kitsune" because she and a small group within the kitsune community consider the peripheral effect of the proper blessing of their god upon those only connected via . . . nevermind. You get the idea. Bottom line, they don't consider "scab kitsune" proper and true blue blooded kitsune

Right now, though that's something Synizn could not care much about (too concerned with his dire situation). However, her concerns for herself are derailed and focus instead on concern and fear for some who she's beginning to consider . . . her saviors (and offspring of her saviors).

Akira's muzzle twitches in surprise as she smells something on Synizn's clothing. Before going off, a touch of sentimentality hit Synizn and she had to brush one of the kit fondly in affection. . . and dawning love. Akira smells the new born on Synizn and due to the mystical nature of kitsune she can tell . . . these new borns have NOT been protected by baptism (something that wards against entities like the fairy AND kitsune as it turns out).

Open greed alights Akira's face.

"Newborn?" she whispers. "You have newborn kits that you . . . ? Oh, how precious and nice . . . for me."

An earlier opportunity to gain status within the Court had been thrawted when some young (and impetious) kitsune's managed to slip out of the little trap she'd arranged in order to gain possession of the young kittlings (re: 15200). . .

What? You thought that it was just bad luck that the kitsune elder's got on Freddy Vulpine's and the Vixen's case for that business with that slain version of . . .?

Nevermind. Let us just say that Akira had a hand in that on that other reality...

Panicing almost, a desperate Synizn wishes to the Crystallic for some means of escape . . . forgetting to put any kind of conditions upon the request. The artifact, given such free reign still complies with no twisting of the wish. For the most part, anyway.

. . .

It is mischievious, not malicious.

Needless to say, Synizn just discovered that the Crystallic can teleport things and people.

Akira and her servants vanish (and the spell freezing Synizn vanishes with their disappearance). However, the Crystallic lets Synizn know (in a brief but terse mental message) that it could not destroy such entities . . . but instead teleport them back to their home plane (which they can return from after a bit . . . a few hourse at least).

Not much time . . . No longer is it a matter of returning transformed people to normal. Now, things are more . . . desperate. Synizn doesn't know the whole of it but she'll be damned if some monster like Akira gets her paws on the kits (and Astra)!!

But one last thing that the Crystallic found it was . . . forced to do by Powers who shall not be named (and reasons which only are known in full by entities who might be called gods or god). It started a slow but irreversible transformation within Synizn as well. . . . she's turning from demifox into kitsune as well (which is already showing in her eyes).....

Whether or not Lord Fred can be saved later shall have to wait for the momemt. See, it's a matter of what is meeting the eye...right now.

1. And when those eyes full upon Astra when she returns to the cheap inn they'd been at . . . blue vulpine eyes meet blue vulpine eyes . . . and a fate changes . . .
