The Anti-Magic Spell

"No, of course not. When I was the Dragon's prisoner, he set me to cataloguing his library. I found the incantation in one of the books, quite by chance."

"It sounds very careless of him to have given you that opportunity."

"Not really. He has over a hundred books. I don't suppose that he has read them all, and so is unaware that one of them contains that spell."

"A hundred!" Fred was impressed. Even the royal library back home had nothing like so many. "So what is this marvellous incantation?"

"It is this: 'O wata goosiam.'"

1. "All right. We'll try it."
2. Fred burst out laughing. "My dear Princess, you have been a victim of a hoax, by either the Dragon or the book's author. Say it like this: 'O what a goose I am.'"
3. Fred scowled. "Do you take me for a fool?" he asked.
4. Astra saying those words out loud did indeed trigger a spell, though not the one that she expected. Instead she acquired some goose-like features.
