Fred's Survivor-Style Show Concept

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 58112

Fred brings his proposal in to the CBN bigwigs. From left to right:
Mr. Felipe Hortense, assistant director of personnel
Mr. Marcel Joyce, executive in charge of making plots convoluted and hard to follow
Mr. White-Douglas Adamson III, CEO of Crystal Ball Network
Sir Geoffroy de Pourbest, director of reality programming and thrice-knighted for producing the only reality show to have over a 50% approval rating in four countries
Miss Valerie Bradshaw, Mr. Adamson' secretary, only here because the director of security got eaten by a bear

Mr. D'Honaire: Gentlemen - and lady - I present to you a new reality show, pitting the bravest and the strongest against each other in a quest for both glory and survival. We start with twenty-four Allarian knights -

Miss Bradshaw: We need females on the show too.

Mr. D'Honaire: -fine, then, twelve Allarian knights and twelve Aquilarian warriors. We lead them to the Dragon's Caves, and divide them into three camps. Each camp is given a small amount of provisions, to which can be added only what they find or earn by completing challenges.

Mr. Pourbest: What kind of challenges?

Mr. D'Honaire: Every week the camps will compete against each other in a three-way challenge. One challenge might be to climb a rope to gain access to a small platform, grab a key, run over to a group of chests and unlock one to get something. Once one camp has unlocked all of their chests, all camps get to keep only what they have gotten from the unlocked chests. Then, the losing teams will have to vote to kick one member out of the camp. Then at some point one camp will be eliminated and their members and provisions assigned to the other camps, at which point the same thing will happen. Then the ten contestants left will merge into one camp, from which they will embark on a seven-step journey to the dragon's lair. On the eighth step, the remaining three contestants will attempt to slay the dragon, and if they succeed, the eliminated contestants will decide who earns the dragon's hoard.

Mr. Joyce: We must, of course, put in plot twists, such as one of the knights falling in love with an Aquilarian, or every camp eliminating someone, or one camp having to get rid of two competitors in one week. We could even have CBN executives write silly rhyming messages and place them near the teams so they'd know what they were supposed to be doing that day.

Mr. Pourbest: Yes, and we would need some sort of individual immunity challenge, so as not to punish the stronger competitors who are pulled down by a weak camp.

Mr. Hortense: Of course, we would also need some fairly stupid knights, maybe some that have absolutely no training. And some of the women would have to be there only to look beautiful, but maybe they could be competitive too.

Mr. Adamson: I like the idea. Tell me, what would you name the show?

Mr. D'Honaire: Quite obvious, actually. Survivor: Dragon's Caves

  1. The show is accepted.
  2. The show is accepted, but the name is changed. Something more like Slay the Dragon, perhaps?
  3. Despite White-Douglas Adamson III's initial leaning, the show is rejected.
