"I don't suppose that there's any chance that we could steal two horses?" Astra asked. "That shouldn't be any harder than stealing one, and I'd like to go with you on your journey to Helsingdon. After all, the captain entrusted you with taking care of me. Just think of all the trouble that I might get myself into if you left me behind with these men, so close to the enemy. Besides, it would be safer to send two people. Supposing your horse was to go lame, for instance."

  1. Somewhat to Astra's surprise, Henri agrees.
  2. As Astra expected, Henri won't agree.
  3. Henri says: "Come to think of it, it would improve our chances if we could send someone to the capital as well as to Helsingdon. So we will steal two horses. But the second messenger must be one of the men, not you."
