So Ambaric told the two Cedrics everything he knew. Once he'd finished,
Cedric the Elder seemed quite happy to believe it. Seeing his expression,
they didn't need any help to know what he was thinking. Cedric the Younger
appeared skeptical to begin with, though he agreed the outfit Stara (the
name Astra had chosen) was wearing was extremely outlandish. Ambaric was halfway through the telling of his account when Fred came in. Fred did initially plan to try and smooth things over, but when he set eyes on Ambaric again, it brought back Astra's distress. He found himself incapable of returning to their table and so he sat at another, not noticing that the other two occupants had decided it was wise to move to another table. Ambaric had noticed Fred enter the room again, but a frown was the only indication he allowed to show how he was really feeling. Turning back to the two Cedrics, he continued his story. It wasn't until he'd finished that he noticed that only Cedric the Younger had appeared to have been listening. It seemed Cedric the Elder was still lost whereever he was. Cedric the Younger decided it was a good time to go up to their rooms and he gave Cedric the Elder a gentle shake on the shoulder to bring him back to reality. They said their good night's. Ambaric turned to look at Fred again, who at this time had ordered another drink, but was staring moodily into space. He tried to pluck up courage to go over there and make his peace, but his nerve failed him. Instead he went to his room as well, as did many of the other patrons, soon leaving Fred and a few others remaining. One of those happened to be Minestus, or Lucieno as he went by in his human form. He was in the guise of a wealthy merchant, and his reason for being there was that he was bored watching what was happening from afar. He had managed to get a room across the way from Fred's, and as Fred made his way himself, followed him. Once outside their rooms he said good night to Fred, who returned it without taking much notice at who had spoken. Lucieno made himself comfortable, and managed to get a few hours sleep until something woke him. He immediately checked on Astra, but she was soundly asleep. In Fred's room, Velus was too sleeping soundly. It was Fred who appeared to have the difficulty in getting to sleep, and was sitting up in bed staring at the ceiling. Lucieno cast a spell that made Fred fall into a deep troublefree sleep, one that would leave him feeling refreshed in the morning.
